Seven schools from Osseo Area Schools recently received statewide recognition as Minnesota’s 2025 Sustaining Exemplar Schools for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

The schools include Basswood, Cedar Island, Edinbrook and Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School at the elementary level, along with 279Online, North View Middle School and the Osseo Area Learning Center. 279Online was the only online school in the state to receive this award.

PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. The Center on PBIS said that PBIS emphasizes five interrelated elements: equity, systems, data, practices, and outcomes and functions as an ongoing commitment to supporting students, educators, and families.

The schools were recognized for their leadership in supporting positive student behavior, improving school climate and creating respectful learning environments that lead to increased student achievement.
